YOUTH LEADER ASSISTANT

Job Title: Youth Leader Assistant, First Church of Christ Longmeadow - United Church of Christ 

Start Date: Upon Availability 

End Date: One-Calendar-Year from Start Date 

Pay: $18/hr, four hours a week. Seasonal additional hours. 

 

PURPOSE: To teach by word and action that all children of God are seen, known, and loved. Through relationship and program building, we engage with 6th - 12th Grade students to help gain familiarity with United Church of Christ philosophy, beliefs, and teachings of the Bible. The Youth Leader Assistant will help the Youth Leader during Youth Ministry events and activities at First Church of Christ in Longmeadow, MA. 

 

REPORTS TO: Youth Leader, Director of Family Ministry 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must pass routine CORI/SORI checks. Must support Open and Affirming education as well as other social and environmental justice topics. Must be a good listener with a positive nature who enjoys working with 6th - 12th graders. Must be reliable and willing to take initiative during youth events, including but not limited to Bible study, games, crafts, outdoor ministry, discussions, and food and fellowship activities. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: First Aid/CPR course preferred, as well as knowledge of UCC philosophies and teachings. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Youth Leader Assistant co-leads all Youth Ministry events and participates in the greater life of FCC. The YLA connects weekly with the Youth Leader to plan and arrives 15 minutes before and stays 15 minutes after all events to assist the Youth Leader with set-up and clean-up.  Duties include but are not limited to: Sunday School, Youth Group, Confirmation Class, fundraisers, performances, community events, summer camp, and other events as needed. The YLA is active in the local community by showing up and supporting students in community events like sports games, Eagle Scout projects, conversations on justice topics, musical concerts, garden parties, or other events hosted or largely attended by our Youth Ministry members.
